Das Bakersfield Police Department veranstaltet am 24. Oktober 2026 den BPD Lift A Thon 2026 im Kraftraum des Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, Kalifornien. Die Hälfte der Einnahmen geht an eine lokale Wohltätigkeitsorganisation, die andere Hälfte fließt in Fitness- und Wellnessprojekte der Polizeibehörde. Die Wertung der drei Disziplinen Bankdrücken, Kniebeugen und Kreuzheben erfolgt nach dem Wilks-Koeffizienten.
Der Wettbewerb wird im Einzelformat ausgetragen. Zur Auswahl stehen die vier Divisionen Men, Women, 40+ Men und 40+ Women bei einer Startgebühr von einheitlich 40 USD. Jeder Teilnehmer erhält ein Zeitfenster von zwei Stunden, um die jeweils drei offiziellen Versuche pro Übung zu absolvieren.
Die Registrierung öffnet am 4. September 2026 und schließt am 24. Oktober 2026. Der Event richtet sich an alle Ersthelfer sowie deren Familien und Freunde.

The Lift A Thon has just a few rules: (1) Participants will have three official lifts for each movement. (2) Participants are not allowed to go down in weight once they have started their official lifts. (3) Participants must weigh in the morning of the event. (4) Participants have two hours to complete all three lifts. (5) Trash talk is highly encouraged.
Each participant will be assigned a judge for each official lift. Scoring for the event will use the Wilkes Coefficient, which will take each lifters body weight into account along with their total weight lifted.
Participants are not allowed to use lifting straps or bench shirts. Chalk, knee sleeves, wrist wraps and belts are allowed. There will be lifting slots starting every two hours, beginning at 7am and ending at 3pm.
Each Participant will receive a t-shirt with registration (first 100 competitors).
This year the competition will be held in the weight room at Bakersfield College. This can be found in the southwest portion of the campus, just northwest of the football field.

The Lift A Thon is an exciting powerlifting competition designed to test the strength of participants through three classic lifts: the bench press, squat, and deadlift. More than just a challenge of physical power, the event aims to build stronger connections between first responders and agencies by promoting a shared training goal and fostering a spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition. Open to all first responders, along with their Family and Friends, the Lift A Thon provides an opportunity to push personal limits while strengthening bonds within our community. Whether you're competing for bragging rights or simply for the love of fitness, this event is a powerful way to unite and showcase the strength of those who serve. Half of the proceeds of the event go to a local charity, while the other half is spent to support the fitness and wellness endeavors of the Bakersfield Police Department.
