About this competition

Think you have what it takes?

The CrossFit Lafayette Athletic Combine is a one-day, seven-event competition designed to test the complete athlete. Whether you’re a CrossFit athlete, football player, track athlete, HYROX competitor, firefighter, military member, or simply someone who loves to compete, this combine will challenge your power, strength, speed, coordination, and endurance. Unlike a traditional CrossFit competition, there are no complex movements or long workouts. Each event focuses on a single athletic quality, allowing competitors to showcase their strengths while identifying areas for improvement.

STANDARDS:

  1. Vertical Jump: Athletes will be allowed one approach step into their jump. The highest successful touch on the Gill Athletics Vertical Jump Tester will be recorded as the athlete’s score. Athletes may take multiple attempts as directed by event staff, with the highest successful jump counting.
  2. Broad Jump: Athletes will begin with both toes positioned behind the designated starting line. Upon jumping, distance will be measured from the starting line to the back of the athlete’s rearmost heel upon landing. Athletes must demonstrate control of the landing. Stepping or falling backward after landing may result in the jump being measured from the point of first contact behind the heels.
  3. Backward Medicine Ball Toss: Athletes will perform a standing overhead backward medicine ball throw for maximum distance. * Men: 14 lb medicine ball * Women: 10 lb medicine ball Both heels must remain on or in front of the starting line at the time of release. Any throw in which an athlete steps behind the line or makes contact behind the line before the ball lands will be ruled a fault. Distance will be measured from the starting line to the first point of contact made by the medicine ball.
  4. 3-Rep Max Bench Press: Athletes will establish their heaviest successful set of three repetitions. Each repetition must: * Start with elbows locked out. * Lower the bar until it makes contact with the athlete’s chest. * No bouncing of the bar off the chest is permitted. * Finish with full elbow extension. A judge will verify each completed repetition by giving a verbal rep count. Only successful repetitions count toward the athlete’s lift.
  5. One-Minute Max Deadlift: Athletes will complete as many deadlift repetitions as possible within one minute. * Men: 225 lb * Women: 155 lb A repetition is complete when the athlete reaches full hip and knee extension with shoulders behind the bar. The judge has final authority on whether a repetition meets the standard. Athletes with documented injuries or physical disabilities may compete using a hex (trap) bar with approval from event staff.
  6. Three Rope Climbs: for Time Athletes will complete three rope climbs as quickly as possible. Each repetition is complete when the athlete touches the overhead building beam with one hand. Time stops immediately when the athlete touches the beam for the third successful climb.
  7. 600 Meter Run: The 600-meter run will begin with all athletes starting simultaneously. Competitors will run from the designated starting line to the marked turnaround point before returning to the finish line. Finish order will determine placing for the event.

General Rules * Judges’ decisions are final. * Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in penalties or disqualification. * Athletes are responsible for arriving at each event when called. * CrossFit Lafayette reserves the right to adjust event flow or heat assignments as needed for athlete safety and event efficiency.
