Understanding the CrossFit season in the United States
Planning your competitive season requires a clear view of the calendar across the United States. This guide brings together major fitness events selected by the Compete Zone team, spanning from regional independent fixtures to large-scale gatherings. These events give athletes clear targets to test their training, earn a spot on the competition floor, and measure progress across distinct divisions.
The competitive season follows a continuous cycle throughout the months. Qualifiers begin as early as September and run through months like November, January, February, May, June, and July. Finals occur across the calendar, starting in January with events such as Mode Classic and The Fittest Experience, continuing through spring and summer with Farm Games, ETX Fittest, and Northern California Classic, and stretching into autumn months like August, September, October, and November.
Finals take place across several states, with Texas hosting the highest number of events, alongside destinations in California, New York, Tennessee, Arizona, South Carolina, Michigan, Alabama, Washington, Kansas, and Indiana. Whether targeting Wodapalooza, Fresh Coast Games, or Big Orange Brawl, you can use this page to monitor qualifiers and finals by month, review the previous season, and prepare for unannounced editions.
Use the calendar below to map your year. Check the usual timeline for each event, track upcoming phases, and navigate directly to official platforms when registrations open.
Frequently asked questions
How does an online qualifier work?
An online qualifier ranks athletes through workouts completed in their own gym and submitted with a video or a judge's validation. The top-ranked athletes earn an invitation to the on-site final, where spots are limited. Some events use online qualifiers strictly for their top divisions, such as Elite.
What divisions are typically offered?
Most competitions provide individual and team divisions, including pairs as well as teams of three or four athletes in male, female, or mixed formats. You will also find age-based categories for Masters and Teens, alongside standard divisions ranging from Elite and RX to Intermediate, Scaled, Rookie, Beginner, and Novice.
How should I choose the right division?
Organisers release detailed workout standards outlining the required movement standards and loads for each category. Reviewing these published standards before entering is the most reliable way to choose the division that matches your abilities.
Where do registrations take place?
Compete Zone lists competition details gathered from official organiser platforms. All athlete registrations and qualifier submissions take place directly on the specific organiser's platform.
In which states are these finals held?
Finals are distributed across the country, with Texas hosting the most events, although not a majority. Other finals take place in Washington, California, South Carolina, New York, Michigan, Alabama, Kansas, Tennessee, Arizona, and Indiana.
