Understanding the CrossFit season in Spain

Planning your competitive season requires a clear view of the calendar. This page brings together major crossfit competitions in Spain, selected by the Compete Zone team, to help you schedule your training, qualifiers, and on-site finals across the months.

Throughout the season, events take place across several Spanish regions. Andalucía hosts the highest number of finals, while other competitions are held in Canarias, Castilla-La Mancha, and Catalunya. The schedule unfolds across different periods: qualifiers and finals take place in months such as January, February, May, June, September, October, November, or December depending on the event.

Events like MAD CrossFit Games / MAD Fitness Festival, Wodcelona, Iberian Throwdown, Marbella Championship, and Málaga Throwdown offer various opportunities to compete. Most feature individual and team setups, with divisions ranging from Rookie, Beginner, or Novice to Scaled, Intermediate, RX, and sometimes Elite, alongside Masters and Teens categories.

Use this page to follow the timeline of qualifiers and finals. You can check confirmed dates, see the months during which unannounced editions usually take place, review the previous season, and find links leading to the organisers' platforms for registration.

Frequently asked questions

How does an online qualifier work?

A qualifier ranks athletes on workouts completed in their own gym and submitted with a video or a judge's validation. The top-ranked athletes earn an invitation to the on-site final, where places are limited. Some competitions select only their top divisions, such as Elite, through this process.

Which regions in Spain host these finals?

The finals take place in several parts of the country, with Andalucía hosting the most events, though not a majority. Finals are also held in Canarias, Castilla-La Mancha, and Catalunya.

How can I choose the right division?

The organiser publishes workout standards detailing the required loads and movements for each division. Reviewing these published standards is the best way to determine whether you should register for divisions such as Rookie, Scaled, Intermediate, RX, or Elite.

What team and age categories are usually offered?

Most competitions provide both individual and team divisions, including pairs as well as teams of 3 or 4, divided into men, women, or mixed. In addition, many events feature Masters divisions grouped by age and Teens categories.

How do I register for these competitions?

Compete Zone lists events based on information from the organisers' platforms. Registration does not take place on Compete Zone, but directly on the organiser's site.
