One Ton Challenge VI Year Six!
The One Ton Challenge returns for its sixth year at Richland Strength — a day dedicated to testing strength, lifting with friends, and celebrating the barbell community.
Six lifts. One total. Two hours on the platform.
The One Ton Challenge blends Olympic lifts and classic strength movements into one unique test of total body strength.
Athletes will attempt to build the highest possible total across six lifts.
Competition Format The One Ton Challenge consists of the following lifts performed in this order:
Back Squat Snatch Clean Jerk Bench Press Deadlift Athletes will rotate through the lifts with their platform group.
Each lift will run for 20 minutes, allowing athletes time to progressively work up to their heaviest successful lift.
Your final score will be your combined total across all six lifts.
With six lifts at 20 minute intervals, the lifting portion of each session will run approximately two hours.
Leaderboards & Divisions All athletes will appear on one main leaderboard.
From that leaderboard we will create sub-divisions based on age.
Age divisions will be determined after registration closes, allowing us to create divisions that make sense based on the number of athletes registered.
Podium placements will be awarded for:
1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place
Additional awards will also be given for:
Best Lifter Male / Female (Highest Power Index)
Heaviest Total Male / Female
Power Index Athletes will be ranked using the Power Index system.
Your Power Index is calculated as:
Total Weight Lifted ÷ Bodyweight
This scoring system allows athletes of different bodyweights to compete on a more level playing field and rewards relative strength as well as absolute strength.
Sessions The event will run in two sessions:
Women’s Session
Men’s Session
Each session will run approximately two hours, rotating through the lifts across four platforms.
Athletes will be placed into platform groups and will move through the lifts together.
Platform groups will be created based on:
• Athlete height • Estimated 1RM totals
Providing accurate estimated lifts during registration helps us create balanced platforms and keep the event running smoothly.
Location The One Ton Challenge returns home this year.
The event will be hosted at:
Richland Strength
With the move into our new facility, we are bringing the event back to its original in-gym format, running across four lifting platforms.
Expect a great atmosphere, loud music, big lifts, and a packed house of athletes and spectators.
Athlete Cap To ensure a smooth and well-run event, athlete spots will be limited.
The One Ton Challenge is intentionally capped to maintain a high-quality experience for athletes and spectators.
Once the event reaches capacity, registration will close.
Weigh-Ins Weigh-ins are optional.
However, athletes who choose not to weigh in will:
• Not appear on the overall leaderboard • Not be eligible for podium placements
Athletes who skip weigh-ins may still be recognized for Heaviest Total.
Registration Early Registration: $85 Regular Registration: $100
Registration includes:
• Entry into the One Ton Challenge • Event t-shirt • Event swag bag
The One Ton Challenge is designed to be a fun but competitive day of lifting with friends and fellow athletes.
What Is a Good One Ton Score? Every year athletes ask what kind of total they should aim for. Here are some general benchmarks across the six-lift total.
Men 1200 lb Total A strong performance and a great goal for many athletes.
1500 lb Total An excellent total that requires solid numbers across all six lifts.
2000 lb Total Elite territory — a true One Ton total.
Very few athletes reach this mark, which is where the name of the event comes from.
Women 700 lb Total A strong performance and a great goal for many athletes.
900 lb Total An excellent total showing solid strength across all six lifts.
1100+ lb Total Elite territory and a truly impressive six-lift total.
Wherever you land, the goal is simple:
Show up. Lift heavy. Have fun.

You do not need to be an elite lifter to participate.

Richland Strength is a strength and conditioning gym located in the Tri-Cities of Washington. For nearly a decade, we have been building a community centered around barbell training, hard work, and camaraderie. Home to CrossFit classes, strength training, and a growing Olympic weightlifting program, Richland Strength is also a USA Weightlifting affiliated club. In addition to daily training and coaching, we host several in-house events each year including the One Ton Challenge, now in its sixth year. This year also marks the launch of our first unsanctioned Olympic weightlifting meet, continuing our mission of growing strength sports in the Tri-Cities.
