Understanding the HYROX season in the United Kingdom
Official HYROX races in the United Kingdom bring the global fitness racing standard to athletes planning their competitive season. Every official event follows the exact same structure across all venues: 8 times 1 km of running, each followed by a specific functional workout station, challenging your running endurance and functional strength under standardized conditions.
The competitive calendar spans several months across distinct regions, with most stops taking place in England alongside key destinations in Scotland and Wales. In autumn, the circuit features HYROX Birmingham and HYROX Youngstars Birmingham in October, followed by Amazon HYROX London and HYROX Youngstars London ExCeL in December. Racing continues in the winter and spring with HYROX Manchester in January, HYROX Glasgow in March, and HYROX Cardiff in May.
Use this calendar to map out your race months and compare stops. You can review the schedule for the current season as well as races from last season to build your training cycle and lock in your target events.
Frequently asked questions
What is the format of an official HYROX race?
An official HYROX race features 8 times 1 km of running, each followed by a workout station. The stations are SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls.
Which divisions are available in official races?
Official events feature four main divisions: Open, Pro with heavier loads, Doubles where two athletes share the workout stations, and Relay for teams of four. There are also Youngstars events, which are races for kids and teens.
Where in the United Kingdom do official races take place?
Most races are hosted in England, with events also taking place in Scotland and Wales. Specific host cities on the calendar include Birmingham, London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Cardiff.
How do registrations work for official HYROX races?
Official races sell their places on HYROX's own ticketing platform. Popular cities and waves fill up early, making it important to plan your season ahead of time.
How do non-official gym simulations differ from official races on Compete Zone?
Compete Zone lists HYROX-style races and simulations organised by gyms on the same model, but they are not official HYROX events. For those independent events, the organiser publishes the loads and format, often with solo and duo categories, and registration happens on the organiser's site.
