Italian Showdown 2027
Opens Mon, Dec 28, 2026
About this competition
The Italian Showdown is open to enthusiasts of every level: first-time beginners, intermediate athletes and experienced competitors. Everyone can take the floor to test themselves and go head-to-head with their peers. It is much more than a competition, it is the celebration of the Community that every year since 2016 has drawn thousands of CrossFit enthusiasts to celebrate fitness and health.
- No qualifiers: no videos to submit, just book your slot to compete live, but be quick to register because slots sell out very fast.
- No cuts: you complete every scheduled workout from the first day to the last and give your all until the end of the competition, with no risk of being eliminated over one bad test.
- Individuals and Pairs: you decide how to take the floor, compete individually or in a team of 2 athletes with your training partner to double the fun.
Ability levels and Divisions We want every participant to express their full potential in a fair and familiar environment. That is why the ability division requirements mirror the standard CrossFit WOD options and the spirit of inclusivity that defines affiliated boxes. Whether you are facing your first competition or looking for a new competitive challenge, you can find a level tailored to your capabilities.
- Level 1: Beginner Division You have little or no competition experience but wish to compete to test yourself. You are not yet familiar with all the skills and usually perform scaled workouts.
- Level 2: Intermediate Division You already have some experience of competitions and wish to compete to overcome your limits. You are familiar with almost all skills and often perform Rx workouts.
- Level 3: Rx Division You already have competition experience and can compete against complete athletes. You are familiar with all the skills and always perform Rx workouts.
ATTENTION: for all the details about the required skills, please refer to the division description and to the official website, also make sure to read and understand the rulebook.
Individuals and Age Groups At the Italian Showdown, Masters also get to choose their ability division, because being the same age does not mean having the same physical capabilities and the same performance; so why should you be forced to compete against stronger athletes just because you were born in the same year? To give all Masters the chance to compete on equal terms, we have set up 6 Age Groups within every Individual ability division (there are no age groups for Doubles). During registration, each athlete is automatically assigned to an Age Group based on their year of birth:
- from 35 to 39 years
- from 40 to 44 years
- from 45 to 49 years
- from 50 to 54 years
- from 55 to 59 years
- from 60 years and over
This way, you can compare yourself on the leaderboard against competitors in your own age group, but also globally against all the other athletes at the same ability level, just like in the CrossFit Open. What's more, during the competition you will be placed in heats ordered by date of birth, so you will always take the floor alongside your peers for a fairer and more enjoyable head-to-head.
Doubles and Sub-divisions For athletes competing in pairs, there are 2 Double ability divisions: Intermediate and Beginner, with no age distinction. Pairs may be formed by athletes of the same or different gender (the team captain must select the M-M, M-F or F-F sub-division during registration). This way, pairs can compare themselves on the leaderboard in two ways: overall ranking by ability division or specific ranking by gender sub-division. Pair workouts are based on the I go, You go format, where one partner performs the required reps while the other rests, then the roles switch, alternating until all the prescribed work is completed.
Competition Schedule The competition lasts 2 or 3 days depending on the ability division you choose, as shown below.
Individuals – Beginner and Intermediate
- 2 days: Friday and Saturday
Individuals – Rx
- 3 days: Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Doubles – Beginner and Intermediate
- 2 days: Saturday and Sunday
Each day you take the floor either in the morning only or in the afternoon only to complete the scheduled workouts, back to back or separated by a short break. This means no long waits between tests, and you always have half a day free for recovery, exploring the expo or relaxing on the beach.
