Understanding the CrossFit season in France
Planning your competitive season requires a clear view of the calendar across France. On this page, Compete Zone gathers major CrossFit competitions selected by our team to help you prepare your goals. These events bring together athletes across multiple divisions, offering targets throughout the competitive year.
The season rhythm follows two main phases between qualification workouts and finals. Online qualifiers run from October and November with Aetos Battle, continue heavily through January, February, March, April, and May with events like French Throwdown, Battle of Itius, and Beast League, and finish around June and September with Kanda Showdown. In-person finals start in April, peak from May through August with gatherings such as Alsace Throwdown, Marseille Throwdown, and Pow Wow Battle, and conclude in September, October, and November with West Coast Throwdown, Mayenne Throwdown, and Kanda Showdown.
These finals take place in various regions across France, most frequently in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France, and Normandie, followed by Île-de-France, Grand Est, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Pays de la Loire, Occitanie, and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Some events, such as Paname Throwdown, also feature prominently on the schedule.
Use this page to track your season. You will find the scheduled qualifiers and finals arranged month by month, alongside editions not yet announced with their usual calendar slots, and details from the last season.
Frequently asked questions
How does an online qualifier work?
An online qualifier ranks athletes on workouts completed in their own gym and submitted with a video or a judge's validation. The best athletes earn an invitation to the on-site final, where places are limited. Some competitions select only their top divisions, such as Elite, using this process.
What divisions are typically available?
Most competitions offer individual and team formats, including pairs or teams of 3 or 4, divided by gender into men, women, or mixed. You will also find Masters categories divided by age, as well as Teens divisions.
How do I choose the right division for my level?
Divisions range from Rookie, Beginner, or Novice for first-timers, to Scaled or Intermediate with lighter loads and simpler movements, up to RX and Elite. The organiser publishes workout standards detailing movements and weights, which is the best way to choose.
How do I register for a competition?
Compete Zone lists competitions from the organisers' platforms to provide an overview. Direct registration and workout submissions take place directly on the organiser's site.
Which French regions host the finals?
Finals are held across several regions, led by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France, and Normandie. Additional events are located in Île-de-France, Grand Est, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Pays de la Loire, Occitanie, and Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
