HPX: The Hunner Percent Race


A Community Fitness Event for a Cause That Matters


The HPX Race is a high-energy, same-sex pairs fitness event built around teamwork, effort, and community. Athletes will take on a challenging course designed to test strength, endurance, and grit. But this event is about more than just fitness.


It’s about showing up, standing together, and doing some real good.


All proceeds go directly to Harbour, a local addiction charity supporting individuals and families affected by substance abuse. Their work provides hope, structure, and essential recovery support — and this race proudly stands behind that mission.



Why We Race


HPX is held in honour of John Gilardi — a friend, a training partner, and someone who showed up with full effort, full heart, and a contagious energy that lifted everyone around him. This race is built in his memory — built the way he lived: all in.


The John Gilardi Legacy supports Harbour in continuing the kind of work that changes — and saves — lives.



Race Format:

• Same-sex pairs (Male/Male or Female/Female)

• All work is split evenly

• All running is done together


You’ll move together, suffer together, and finish as a team — the only way John would’ve wanted it.



Two Divisions, One Purpose:


Competitive Division

Designed for athletes ready to race hard. Strict judging standards will be in place, movement quality will be enforced, and very lucrative prizes are up for grabs. Every rep counts — bring your A-game.


Non-Competitive Division

For those who want to be part of something powerful without the pressure of judged performance. Weights and movements can be scaled, and the emphasis is on effort, fun, and showing up. You’ll still be tested — just without the technical barriers.

1. 150/120 Cal Bike Erg

2. 800m Run

3. 100 Dumbbell Snatches (22.5kg men / 15kg women)

4. 800m Run

5. 150/120 Cal Row

6. 800m Run

7. 100 Box Overs (24”, jump or step)

8. 800m Run

9. 150/120 Cal Ski Erg

10. 800m Run

11. 100 Partner Wall Balls (passed over a post)

12. Earth Worm Carry – 2 connected sandbags (2 x 20kg men / 2 x 15kg women) – 1 lap

13. 100 Burpees Over Worm

14. 100m Earth Worm Lunge (in synchro, both partners holding the worm)

15. Sprint to the Finish
