24 hour Row for Mens Mental Health. From 10am on Saturday the 6th of December to Sunday the 7th December, 10am we will be rowing in teams of 4 to help create funds and awareness around mens mental health. Suicide is the leading cause of death in men from 15 - 44 year olds (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2024). Every day, here in Australia, 7 men takes there own lives. Men are therefore 3 times more likely to take their own life compared to a women (ASB, 2022). Mental health is something that occurs within all of us. And tends to develop early in life, with three-quarters of those who have mental ill-health first experiencing symptoms before the age of 25 years (Kessler et al., 2007). So this year, we are raising funds and awareness for Esurve. A Non for Profit organisation on the Gold Coast that specifically work with youth from disadvantaged backgrounds aged between 16 - 24. The aim is to teach our young men the skills and provide resources they can use to help better themselves. So they can be better sons, future partners and fathers and a valued member of our community.
